Sustainability is the focus for the newly launched Greater Vancouver Board of Trade breakfast series. Increasing environmental concerns and growing consumer demand are top of mind for local business owners. The series will highlight how local business leaders are tapping into new technologies, exploring business models and implementing processes to unlock opportunities and take the lead on sustainability.
Corporate interest in sustainability is greater than ever before. Pressing environmental concerns, federal targets and consumer demand are amplifying the need for businesses to adopt sustainable practices. As more businesses look to reduce waste, improve efficiencies, and cut down on greenhouse gasses, new business models and technological advances are unlocking new opportunities and opening doors that foster economically and environmentally sustainable business practices.
Over a series of events, the Vancouver Board of Trade and PSF will be taking an in-depth look at key sustainability issues and how they are influencing businesses and business strategies.
“Partnering with the Pacific Salmon Foundation for this series is a great step in the sustainable direction. Corporate interest in sustainability is greater than ever before,” said Bridgette Anderson, President and CEO of the Greater Vancouver Board of Trade. “Our goal with this new event series is to equip our Members with the information they need to implement sustainable business practices without sacrificing their bottom lines.”
“The Pacific Salmon Foundation is inclusive and works with diverse groups and interests across British Columbia, including hundreds of businesses that support Pacific salmon conservation, because we recognize the unique contributions that the private sector brings to environmental sustainability,” said Michael Meneer, President and CEO, Pacific Salmon Foundation. “PSF is delighted that the Greater Vancouver Board of Trade is starting a “Sustainability Series”, and welcomes the opportunity to be a part of the conversation about opportunities for businesses to contribute to sustainability.”
