In 2015, the Salish Sea Marine Survival Project completed its first year of field research to determine what was killing our salmon in the Salish Sea. The Project is addressing all potential factors from an ecosystem perspective, factors such as predation, climate change, loss of habitat, loss of forage fish and disease to name a few. The Strategic Salmon Health Initiative is a sub-project focused on determining what microbes in wild, hatchery and farmed salmon could be causing harmful diseases. The BC Salmon Farmers Assocation has been a generous financial and in-kind partner in these efforts.
