Leah Honka has been working with the Pacific Salmon Foundation for the past 3.5 years as the Coordinator of the Salmon Watersheds Program. She has extensive experience working on British Columbia’s west coast in marine sciences, as well as in marine conservation and education. Her past experiences range from working as a field technician on research projects based out of the Northwest Territories, the Broughton Archipelago in BC, and Costa Rica, as an At-Sea Fisheries Observer off the BC coast, and as a naturalist aboard whale watching vessels and sailboats. She completed her Masters in Resource and Environmental Management at Simon Fraser University in 2014, with her studies focused on researching sea otters in the wild, in collaboration with Fisheries and Oceans Canada, the Hakai Institute, and the Heiltsuk First Nation.
