Community Salmon Program Application Intake Open!

Applications for the Community Salmon Program Spring 2021 funding round are now open and will be accepted through February 15. PSF's Community Salmon Program is a grantmaking program that supports volunteer and community–driven organizations that undertake salmon conservation and restoration projects in British Columbia and the Yukon.

PSF Perspective on DFO Decision to Phase Out Open-Net-Pen Salmon Farms in the Discovery Islands

The Pacific Salmon Foundation (PSF) commends Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) and the seven First Nations in the Discovery Islands for the consultations that led to the decision by DFO Minister Bernadette Jordan to phase out open-net-pen aquaculture in the Discovery Islands during the next 18 months. New paper published in BioScience highlights Indigenous management practices for Pacific salmon

A new paper published in BioScience titled ‘Indigenous Systems of Management for Culturally and Ecologically Resilient Pacific Salmon (Oncorhynchus spp.) Fisheries ‘ features PSF’s Salmon Watersheds Program Director, Katrina Connors and former PSF researcher William Atlas. This paper dives into Indigenous management practices for Pacific salmon and how revitalizing traditional systems of salmon management could improve efforts and identify opportunities for the future.
